Washington County Municipal Court Warrants
Alabama Code § 12-14-51 gives municipal magistrates real judicial power: issuing arrest warrants in qualifying minor-misdemeanor prosecutions, accepting guilty pleas in specified cases, and handling bail and bond under the statute. So a town warrant is court process. It is not just a line on a Sheriff's list. The issuing court alone controls its status and any recall, reset, plea, or appearance. Washington County has three incorporated towns: Chatom, Millry, and McIntosh. Each runs its own municipal docket. Circuit Clerk Valerie Bailey keeps the Circuit and District Court records, not one merged town-court file. If your paperwork says "capias," ask the municipal clerk what that label means for your case. Alabama materials also say "bench warrant." Treat the two terms as different until you read the issuing document itself.
Three Washington County Town Court Paths
The best search key is the issuing court printed on the ticket, notice, or case record. Your home address decides nothing. A Washington County resident can live in one town and owe a docket in another. Chatom publishes a recurring court schedule and location. McIntosh goes further, posting a schedule, a court phone, mailing instructions, and a city-linked payment portal. Millry's official site shows no separate municipal court page or warrant desk, so Town Hall is the local fallback there.
| City | Municipal court route | Likely warrant matters | Official contact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chatom | Town Hall, 44 West Front Street; fourth Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. | Town ordinance, municipal traffic, missed court process | Town/Police: (251) 847-2117 |
| Millry | Ask Town Hall for the current municipal court clerk and schedule. | Municipal matters within town authority | Town Hall: (251) 846-2698 |
| McIntosh | Third Monday at 5:00 p.m.; P.O. Box 385 | Municipal traffic, ordinance, and missed-date process | Court: (251) 944-2428 |
Chatom Municipal Warrants and Court Night
The official Chatom departments page puts Municipal Court at Town Hall, 44 West Front Street, on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Chatom Police uses the same West Front Street address and lists (251) 847-2117. A recurring schedule is only a general operating detail. It cannot show that your case is set for the next session. And simply showing up does not recall a warrant. So call first. Ask whether the docket belongs to Chatom Municipal Court, what identification and ticket information to bring, whether payment or a plea is allowed, and whether the judge must address a warrant. Chatom is the county seat, but the Washington County Courthouse at 45 Court Street is a different records route. State District Court traffic belongs with the Circuit Clerk. Chatom town matters belong with the municipal clerk.
Checking a Washington County Municipal Warrant
None of the three Washington County towns publishes a public municipal bench-warrant or capias search. Direct court confirmation is the practical route, backed by a narrow records request if needed. A Sheriff's web page that shows no name cannot clear a city warrant. Nor can a payment screen reveal every judicial action on the docket.
- Read the citation or notice for the named town court and case identifier.
- Call that municipal court or its documented Town Hall routing number.
- Ask whether process is requested, issued, executed, recalled, or otherwise resolved.
- Ask what appearance, plea, payment, bond, or attorney step is required.
- For execution questions, call the Washington County Sheriff at (251) 847-2202.
- Request written confirmation after the judge or clerk processes the required step.
The case may turn out to belong to Washington County District or Circuit Court. Then call the Circuit Clerk at (251) 847-2239. Alacourt ACCESS is a docket research channel, not a complete public town-warrant roster.
McIntosh Municipal Warrant Payment Boundary
McIntosh Municipal Court posts its third-Monday, 5:00 p.m. schedule, a court phone, and a mailing route. Qualifying tickets may go by mail with a cashier's check or money order to McIntosh Municipal Court, P.O. Box 385, McIntosh, AL 36553. The town-linked portal also offers "Pay Here" and a voice-payment option. Payment gets easier that way. But neither service is labeled an official warrant lookup.
Payment boundary: A receipt proves payment activity, not necessarily a judicial recall; confirm the warrant status with McIntosh Municipal Court.
Before using the portal or the mail, ask the court whether your case qualifies, what amount is current, and whether appearance is mandatory. Ask how a missed-date warrant will be handled. Keep the confirmation number or mailing receipt. Then call the court again to verify the docket reflects the result you intended in this Washington County matter.
The city-linked portal demonstrates the limited function of McIntosh's online channel.

Inside a Washington County Municipal Warrant
A municipal record should tie together the person, the local charge, the issuing authority, and the required court action. Public copies may redact personal identifiers under Alabama court privacy rules. Give your date of birth or similar details only to the official office. That helps distinguish a common name in a Washington County docket.
| Town and court | Chatom, Millry, or McIntosh Municipal Court as the issuing authority. |
|---|---|
| Case or citation | The local identifier joining the warrant to the docket, such as MUN-CASE-ID. |
| Person identifier | Name or legally sufficient description, with protected details excluded from public page copy. |
| Underlying matter | Municipal traffic, ordinance, or qualifying misdemeanor charge. |
| Trigger | The complaint, missed appearance, failure to comply, or other court-recorded basis. |
| Status | Requested, issued, executed, recalled, or another case-specific status confirmed by the clerk. |
| Next step | Appearance, judge review, bond, plea, payment, or written order required by the court. |
Millry Municipal Warrant Contact Fallback
Millry keeps its town site thin on court details. The Police Department page there gives no phone and no municipal-court schedule, so a Millry warrant question starts with Town Hall. Washington County Probate's important-numbers page lists Millry Town Hall at (251) 846-2698, and that office can tell you how the municipal court currently handles its docket. Do not borrow Chatom's or McIntosh's court calendar, since each town runs its own. A 2024 Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police directory gives Millry Police at 105 Second Avenue, P.O. Box 563, Millry, Alabama 36558, with (251) 846-2508 extension 105. Directory entries age fast, so confirm that number with the current town office before you rely on it. For a court record, Town Hall or the sitting municipal clerk is the better route. If your question is about the Washington County Sheriff executing a warrant, call (251) 847-2202.
The official Millry Police page confirms department identity while illustrating the gap in current online court-contact detail.

Washington County Municipal Case Totals
The Alabama AOC FY2025 municipal annual report gives the caseload for each town. Chatom logged 364 municipal cases. Millry reported 253. McIntosh came in at 238. Those are all reported municipal cases, though, not warrant counts, and the report says nothing about traffic charges, failures to appear, warrants, recalls, or balances still owed in Washington County.
The totals do confirm one thing: all three municipal courts were active, so it pays to check the right town docket. They cannot prove Chatom has more warrants than Millry or McIntosh. Washington County publishes no warrant-specific count, clearance rate, or active municipal roster total anywhere official.
Washington County Court and Sheriff Roles
Each municipal court issues and controls its own judicial process. A municipal magistrate holds the powers Alabama law grants. A police officer or the Washington County Sheriff may then execute that process within lawful authority. Serving the paper does not move the docket, though. Under Rule 3.3, the executing officer endorses the manner and date of execution and returns the warrant to the clerk named in it.
- Municipal clerk
- Keeps the town docket, citation record, payment entries, and court process.
- Circuit Clerk
- Maintains Washington County Circuit and District Court records and their public-access channels.
- Sheriff
- Handles law-enforcement functions and may maintain execution or return materials subject to access limits.
- Recall
- A court action changing a warrant's executable status, not merely a payment transaction.
- Capias
- A term that may appear on local paperwork and must be read in the context of the issuing document.
So "not on the Sheriff's list" clears nothing. Washington County posts no public list in the first place, and the issuing court, not the Sheriff, controls the docket.
How to Resolve a Washington County Municipal Warrant
Call the issuing municipal clerk before you appear. Ask directly: must a judge recall the warrant, is a new court date open, will the town accept a plea or payment, is bond required, and what identification or documents should you bring? No countywide municipal surrender calendar or clearing packet exists in Washington County. An attorney can advise on a motion, a planned appearance, surrender, and the legal consequences; court staff will give procedure, not legal advice. Fine payment and bond are not the same thing. Bond secures your appearance under Alabama law. A fine or cost resolves a money obligation instead. The amount and the accepted form depend on the court and its order. Washington County's dated cost schedule sets no municipal warrant fee. Get the current figure from the town court, and keep the receipt, the court order, and the new setting.
Before a walk-in: Confirm the town court, date, identification, payment method, bond instructions, and whether a judge must act on the warrant.
Alabama public-records law, mainly §§ 36-12-40 through 36-12-45, allows requests subject to exemptions and each office's procedure. A narrow request can cover your own docket entries, case status, any fee estimate, and the legal basis for withholding. Sealed and juvenile material follows restricted routes. For citation-specific details, see the Washington County traffic warrant search.
